Run Crazy Horse Set for October- Black Hills Travel Blog

Run Crazy Horse, a brand new running event, is coming to South Dakota’s Black Hills on Oct. 3, 2010.

Run Crazy Horse will be a marathon and half marathon taking runners through the scenic Central Hills between the Crazy Horse Memorial and downtown Hill City.

The best part could be the name of the man who is putting it on. Jerry Dunn is a veteran marathoner and race organizer, a guy who knows how to put on a successful event.

Jerry created and stages the Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon, the popular Northern Hills event that takes place on the Mickelson Trial between Rochford and Deadwood. Runners from 47 states have been participating in recent years. He also stages the annual Lean Horse Ultra in the Southern Hills. New marathon coming to Black Hills by Jeff Budlong Rapid City Journal staff

A fall marathon is coming back to the Black Hills.

Jerry Dunn, who currently oversees two successful marathons with the Deadwood-Mickelson Trail Marathon and the Lean Horse Ultra, is teaming up with race director Emily Wheeler to put on the Run Crazy Horse marathon beginning in the fall of 2010.

The marathon and a half marathon are set for Oct. 3, 2010, and will take runners from the Crazy Horse Memorial through downtown Hill City and a loop on the Mickelson Trail. It will be a certified race that will be a Boston Marathon qualifier and comes a week after the Buffalo Roundup in Custer….read more
